Games like Xenomorph feel like RPGs even if they aren't technically RPGs, thanks to them basically being dungeon crawlers without the RPG part.MorpheusKitamihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16591271981112642781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162314467762792782.post-534724288607180292023-11-05T09:47:44.156-05:002023-11-05T09:47:44.156-05:00PS - Indeed, you did, at the end ofthis entry: &qu...PS - Indeed, you did, at the end ofthis entry: "After some investigation, I've rejected the following titles as RPGs: [...] Xenomorph (1990): I couldn't find any evidence of character development, and combat seems to be based solely on weapons. But although the PC has some statistics, it seems there is no character development - they only refer to stamina, food, radiation etc. and (their maximum) do(es) not appear to increase permanently.Buscanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162314467762792782.post-39539432640668927322023-11-05T05:26:12.377-05:002023-11-05T05:26:12.377-05:00The hard limits on ammunition basically turn it in...The hard limits on ammunition basically turn it into an adventure game with only one potentially-successful path, for all that it looks like a sci-fi Dungeon Master clone. This game, its sequel and Waxworks were relatively popular in Spain even if they arrived in English.
The reviews treated it quite well (https://archive.org/details/MegaocioN17/page/n27/mode/2up), even if the Elvira character was unknown here.
In the same issue of that magazine there's another candidate to early RPG released in Spain (Xenomorph): https://archive.org/details/MegaocioN17/page/n57/mode/2up . Back in the early 90’s the Amiga version of this was one of the most graphically stunning games o had ever seen. It also scared me so bad that even now, as an adult in my late 30's, I get a physiological fear response when hearing the music. However I can understand how some one playing it for the first time, as an adult in the 2000's would be lukewarm about it. I'm reading on to see how you like it by the end. ;)Mynorisnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162314467762792782.post-3379606156178530192014-09-18T13:24:34.318-04:002014-09-18T13:24:34.318-04:00I think it's funny that the Elder Scrolls lets...I think it's funny that the Elder Scrolls lets you pick up so much worthless junk, but I would never think of complaining about it.
