Its a weird game, both in content and what it is. By all rights, it is a RPG. Its like an '80s attempt at a FPS/FPRPG hybrid, before either of those genres were really things. As such, its rough, and strange. I'm also not really sure if it has any advancement besides health, even after playing through most of the game. Can't say you were wrong to reject it or that the people who say its a RPG are wrong either.MorpheusKitamihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16591271981112642781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162314467762792782.post-62849857766752647972022-12-19T21:06:59.429-05:002022-12-19T21:06:59.429-05:00Interesting, you probably already did this, but ar...Interesting, you probably already did this, but are there any indications in the disk of text that might be connected to a different ending? The way the ending is set up reminds me of a game where that sort of thing is the death screen. I note that there's no description of the game over screen anywhere here, although it could just be "you died" and that's why it was unmentioned.
Vf vg cbffvoyr gung gur lrne vf gur bar lbh nffhzr vf gur cerfrag? I...For anyone who would like to play this game.....
I just completed this freeware version of Sandor. (I think.) To avoid the copy protection question issue Chet describes above, you need to adhere to one rule: Do not SAVE the game after being presented the "gebe den Code Nr." screen.
Yes, you will have to reload occasionally when this happens but that is typically trivial if you follow one other bit of advice. Always save the game immediately after exiting any cave/town/temple/castle/etc.. This is due to the fact that the copy protection question is only presented when on the overworld map. As soon as you take one step on the overworld map, that screen could be presented to you after you have been playing for a while. Once you reboot, this "step/action counter" is reset and you will be free to play for quite a while again.

It took me in the neighborhood of about 30 hours to play. A good chuck of that was spent translating German as I do not speak nor read the language. I also was taking fairly detailed notes about what is sold in each market and for how much. Not to mention I was trying to figure out the skill system. You eliminate those things and the time could be under 20 hours easily.

The game is not going to win any awards, but I did enjoy myself playing it. It feels a bit disjointed, possibly owing to it being the freeware version and lacking any sort of documentation. And you have no clue what your objective is until you are about half done.

I only noticed a few bugs:
1) "over healing" wraps hit points back around starting at 0. ex: 2 hit points from the max, you heal 5 hit points, you will find yourself with under 10 hit points. Not good when you have 130 total.
2) one or two inscriptions/chests that should have displayed/contained something did not. Freeware version issue?
3) the overhead map does not show everything correctly, but it is pretty close. (islands missing, island path parts missing)
4) (Feature??) combat can be skipped by clicking in the blank/empty menu bar at the bottom of the combat action listLanHawkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11073207178889909708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162314467762792782.post-63974072142306550492021-02-01T03:55:58.306-05:002021-02-01T03:55:58.306-05:00Motelsoft added a code table for the Sandor 2 down...Motelsoft added a code table for the Sandor 2 download in 2019 http://www.motelsoft.de/motelsoftf.html.
Perhaps it also works with Sandor. There's a big difference between a simulator an an adventure game with some logistics like Pirates!

I mean, Sea Rogue has you simultaneously scanning seabeds with a magnetometer, checking speed and sonar on the bridge, positioning people at stations, managing finances and making payroll, controlling divers as they dig through silt, cleaning barnacles off encrusted valuables, and doing historical research to identify the name of the wreck. It's all those niggling aspects of a simulator that I never really like.
