Though the game was not great by any means, there were a few things that stuck in my memory. One was some of the strange monsters encountered (mentioned above). My favorite was the "Trash 80" with a computer graphic. I assume this monster's name was modified for the Apple version.
Believe it or not, I actually won the game somehow.
I remember the ending being different than what was described in the blog. I don't remember for sure if there was a quiz as described above. Probably not (because I would not have passed it) or it was an easier quiz. What I do remember is there was a final question screen that popped up at the end very suddenly. It even had a count down timer (90 seconds?) and a frenzy inducing ticking sound of some kind. I don't remember the exact question, but I remember realizing that the answer was available on the cover of the game box. The question may have been something like, how many standing stones are there. My buddy and I made a mad scramble for the box cover and figured out the answer and won the game. I guess that's what made it memorable for me. I also remember the final graphic with the shaking stones and some of them falling down (as described). Love the blog. Lots of great memories of playing RPGs from the 80 and beyond.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162314467762792782.post-40028738756847504482018-08-01T23:14:09.703-04:002018-08-01T23:14:09.703-04:00Though this is a few years after the posting of th...Though this is a few years after the posting of this article, should anyone come across this...
There is a means to cheat with the Stats of the Character. In the source code (as the code was not compiled), search for the stats which have Random Number assignments of up to 18. Simply change the random number generator to 99 for all stats.

I don't have the copy of it, so I do not remember the exact lines of codes, but scrolling through it should be simple enough. I think 99 was the maximum for the stats. And as superfluous as they are, this little game actually includes the "HP as strength" thing too. You do less and less damage to enemies as your HP go down. If you had full endurance you were basically operating at 100% of your skill levels. As your endurance decreased penalties would pile up against successfully casting a spell or striking an enemy.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize this despite one of the generic NPC conversation topics suggesting to basically take it easy and not push myself too hard.

While fighting with zero endurance wasn't suicide, it was unnecessarily frustrating and I believe this system was removed for Oblivion and Skyrim.Raifieldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08478524519453417677noreply@blogger.com
