The characters mark your progress mainly by items and levels letting them get further.

but, it also means you can have multiple parties at different levels. Or played by different people. Remember how you had the option of setting passwords on your characters? There were several games where my dad and I had separate scenario disks so we could each be playing through. In Wizardry, we could each have our own set of characters, grab them, and head into the dungeon. The password was to keep nefarious siblings from nuking you characters. But things like this definitely happened:

Me: dad, why is there a password on your wizard? I can't beat the level four ninja fight and I wanna tiltowait them.

Dad: because last time you borrowed one of my characters you lost my samurai.

Me: but most of my guys are dead in that room.

Dad: Sigh, okay, after dinner let's take my party down and go get them.

Games/stories on a narrative just don't have the setup for anything like that.nrjanknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162314467762792782.post-61501692481060473352021-01-13T20:04:54.709-05:002021-01-13T20:04:54.709-05:00Even if I didn't see this as cheating--which o...Even if I didn't see this as cheating--which of course it is--I wouldn't do it because it would remove part of the fun of the game, where you slowly build your finances to the point that you can buy the next level of gear. You can create multiple sets of characters, then pool your gold to one character that you plan on keeping. Once you have done that, you delete all the other characters and wash, rinse, and repeat. This gives you a ton of gold to start off with and the ability to properly equip your characters. I always attributed this to a group / Hive effort of the town trying to solve the problem, rather than calling it a cheat. =)
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14656345229776993234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162314467762792782.post-89041559789928207692021-01-02T15:04:32.580-05:002021-01-02T15:04:32.580-05:00That is correct...
