But i still do think they were just a step towards the Infinity Games with an unrivaled BG2. Didn't try BG3 though. The only downside in my view of DS 1 and 2 are the final battles. I thought I saw similar behavior in Dark Sun - where casters would just enter combat, while Giants and such would walk forward a bit before combat started. That, and the fact you can click the "sword" icon before combat led to what Chet is seeing.Werner Hagerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05357095994941289078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162314467762792782.post-87442825644252595752021-11-01T08:01:45.750-04:002021-11-01T08:01:45.750-04:00"We opened a door and ran into a talking rat...."We opened a door and ran into a talking rat..."

Master Splinter, is that you?Nachtshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14687591577885252972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162314467762792782.post-51097015297743533242021-11-01T02:54:48.914-04:002021-11-01T02:54:48.914-04:00Dagolar is a fantasy version of the Mad Scientist ...Dagolar is a fantasy version of the Mad Scientist trope. I generally dislike level scaling, and I don't think it's the solution for Dark Sun's difficulty balance issues.

The problem here stems from most midgame encounters being of a similar level range, and you reach a point at which you outclass them all. But then the endgame has a HUGE difficulty spike.

The obvious solution is to add more encounters to the mid-lategame that range in difficulty between the extant midgame encounters and the final battle.
